Photobook Finalists 2025

We are delighted to share the Finalists of Photo|Frome’s second Photobook Awards.

From glossy tomes to fragile intimate pamphlets, the last two decades have seen the proliferation of the photobook as the medium of choice for many committed photographers to share their long-term projects and bodies of work with the world. Displayed here are the responses to Photo|Frome’s ‘open call’ – ‘published’ category –  which has been answered by photographers and publishers from over twenty countries.

We are honoured to showcase some of the most exciting photobooks that have been published over the last two years – from established artists and photographers to emerging practitioners. For those who are new to the photobook, we hope this will provide an insight into the remarkable possibilities of this way of experiencing photographs. 

Whilst the subjects and narratives explored in these photobooks and zines is diverse, this year’s judges will be selecting the publication they feel resonates most poignantly with this year’s theme, InEquality. The publishing industry has a long way to go to de-carbonise reduce its environmental impact. Judges will also be looking for the publication that best demonstrates an awareness of environmental impact and sustainability in terms of concept, design and production.

For this edition of the festival, we have introduced an ‘unpublished’ category for maquettes, ‘dummies’ and one-off artists’ books. These were submitted digitally and the shortlist, encompassing an equally broad geographic reach, can be viewed online: Unpublished Photobooks Finalists
