Parallelograms is a project by our first featured local photographer, Gitte Morten.
It combines two of the great loves of Gitte’s life: photography and music. Inspired by Linda Perhacs’ 1970 album of the same name, she conjured up images that she sees when listening to these beautiful songs, one image for each song on the album. The link between the photograph and the song is ethereal and intangible rather than literal and illustrates her reaction to the pure sounds of the music.’
Gitte Morten is from Copenhagen, Denmark, and now lives in Frome. She is mostly a self-taught photographer and has been working seriously for the past 12 years in stills and photographic projections. Gitte is interested in finding the beauty in the everyday, the inter-relationship between image and sound, and in exploring styles and techniques of an imagined past.
